
Berrapack packaging company based in Aljustrel, Beja, is about to allot €1 million for the manufacturing of waterproof paper and aluminium packages for use in the food industry in the coming year, according to the proprietor on July 21.

“We will produce between 400,000 and 500,000 paper packages per day in the initial phase,” said businessman Jorge Lopes to the reporters.
Alongside the waterproof paper packages, Berrapack will keep on manufacturing huge quantity aluminium packages per day,” designated for the food sector, he also notified.
Aluminium is infinitely recyclable and crucial to the food and beverage packaging sector. Primarily, takeaway, ready-to-eat and cloud businesses utilise aluminium foil or waterproof paper packaging.
Lopes also exclaimed: “Possibly we will also be able to make paper cups, and we will also make more shapes in aluminium, which we have been producing for longer.”
He means new designs for aluminium foil containers are required in the food industry by aluminium shapes.
The Alentejo 2020 regional operational programme has been acting as constant support for the investment project, and as the businessman highlights, it might be up and running ‘during 2023’.
Lopes also announced the opening of ’13 more jobs’ at the Berrapack factory, alluding that this project would generate ‘much more export capacity for the company.
The packaging solutions manufactured through Berrapack are vastly used in restaurants and the hotel industry, mainly emphasising takeaway deals.
All of the manufactured products are sold to shopkeepers and dealers “in Portugal, Spain, France and, more recently, in Morocco,” he gave a good tour of the situation.
Berrapack is a subsidiary of Grupo Biquímicos, and ‘between 2024 and 2025’ it plans to construct a ‘root factory’ having ‘about 7,000 square metres situated in the northwest doorway of Aljustrel, Portugal.
Lopes also conversed with the reporters claiming that the investment ‘could be €3 million’ and would ‘create another 40 jobs’. “This will be our main packaging unit,” he declared.
