
Sohar Aluminium launches Sultanate’s first aluminium handicraft centre in Oman. This handicraft centre is located at Sohar Aluminium. The event was held under the auspices of H E Sheikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Batinah.
This event is in collaboration with the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI). Training programme will be given to traditional handicraft workers in order to develop skills. This will help them to start business and craft Omani handicrafts made of aluminium.
According to Sohar Aluminium CEO Said al Masoudi, “The handicrafts industry plays an important role in not only helping preserve our cultural heritage but driving social as well as economic growth through the creation of small-medium enterprises.”

Said al Masoudi further stated “We have always centred our efforts in investing and building human capacity for achieving developmental objectives and from this concept we decided to initiate this programme and establish an SME, named ‘Siwar’ for aluminium craft industries and handicrafts."
The craft event also marked the celebration of nine craftswomen’s graduation from a three year Aluminium Craft Industries Programme.
