Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL), a Cat dealer, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Caterpillar to supply engines for Penguin International. Penguin is a renowned manufacturer of aluminium-hulled workboats, patrol craft, and passenger ferries.

The company's flagship design is the Flex, which was first introduced in 2006 with the Flex-36. The latest version of the Flex is the Flex-42X Executive Fast Crew Boat.
The aluminium crew boats have been put together or assembled by the company’s own shipbuilding and management teams posted in Singapore.
The firm has already provided almost 150 Flex offshore crew boats and armoured security boats named Flex Fighter.
The MD of Penguin International, James Tham, exclaimed: “Penguin boats set the standard for mid-sized crew boats in the offshore petroleum, windfarm and maritime security industries,”
“Teaming up with Caterpillar Marine allows us to support our customers’ energy transition needs through power solutions that employ alternative fuels, hybrid solutions and batteries. We can achieve our own sustainability goals and those of our customers,” Tham continued.
With over 50 years of experience, TSL is dedicated to ensuring the successful commissioning and installation of power solutions. Their comprehensive range of Cat machines, engines, propulsion systems and an unwavering commitment to providing exceptional services, parts, and support make them the ideal partner for any project.
The vice president and general manager of Caterpillar Marine, Brad Johnson, spoke out: “As part of our effort to help maritime industry customers achieve their decarbonisation goals, we are working closely with leading shipbuilding companies to introduce new hybrid power solutions,”
“We’re excited to collaborate with Penguin to enable them to offer lower-emission crew transport vessels and fast crew boats,” Johnson concluded.
