China’s aluminium sheet, plate and strip exports in October dropped by 1.9% M-o-M
According to China Customs data, China’s aluminium sheet, plate and strip exports in October declined by 1.9 per cent from a month earlier to come in at 193,500 tonnes. In September, China’s export amount was 197,100 tonnes after declining by 9.7 per cent from August and 20.2 per cent from the same period last year. China’s exports in October were down year-on-year as well by 17 per cent, indicating the fact that the rate of yearly drop declined in October compared with September. China’s aluminium scrap imports extended M-o-M fall in October by 47%; US was the top exporter
China customs data found that the country’s aluminium scrap imports in October extended the month-on-month decline by 47.3 per cent to stand at 60,240 tonnes. In September, the import volume had fallen by 18.7 per cent from 141,000 tonnes in August to 114,300 tonnes, which indicates the fact that the monthly decline rate in China’s aluminium scrap imports rose in October. United States aluminium imports from China recorded a rise in August after June
The United States Geological Survey found the US imports of aluminium from China (including crude, metal and alloys and semi-finished products) in August 2019 rose over the month by 1,104 tonnes or 13 per cent to come in at 8,831 tonnes. In July, the United States aluminium imports from China had recorded at 7,727 tonnes, after declining by 8,153 tonnes or 51 per cent from 15,880 tonnes in June. After increasing aluminium ingots prices for past three consecutive times, National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) reportedly cut the ingots prices by over 2 per cent, with effect from Wednesday, November 20, as trade sources told Cogencis. Primary aluminium inventories in China declined by larger margin this week to 799,000 tonnes
Shanghai Metals Market, on Thursday, November 21, found the social inventories of primary aluminium continued to decline by a larger margin, as stocks in Nanhai and Gongyi fell sharply. Data showed the stocks across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants, decreased by 35,000 tonnes week-on-week and 24,000 tonnes from Monday, November 18 to stand at 799,000 tonnes. Qatar’s aluminium crude, metals and alloys exports to the US recorded a drop of 30% in August
After a considerable rise of 29 per cent in July 2019, Qatar’s aluminium crude, metals and alloys exports to the United States recorded a drop in August by about 30 per cent to stand at 10,700 tonnes, found United States Geological Survey. In July, the export volume was amounted to 15,300 tonnes after increasing from 11,900 tonnes in June. Uncertainty in global aluminium markets weigh down aluminium foil roll demand in Europe by 2.2% YTD
Ongoing uncertainty in global aluminium markets and the US-China trade dispute were found to take a toll on European aluminium foil rollers in the September quarter.
