Brown fused alumina is produced by the fusion of bauxite in an electric arc furnace at high temperatures. It is produced from both tilting furnace and fixed furnaces. It is widely used as refractory materials, gunning materials, mouldable and ramming refractory mixes, castables, monolithics, mortars, shaped refractories like high-alumina bricks and other refractory shapes, etc.
