Fire Bricks

A fire brick, firebrick, fireclay brick or refractory brick is a block of ceramic material used in lining furnaces, kilns, fireboxes and fireplaces. A refractory brick is built primarily to withstand high temperature but will also usually have a low thermal conductivity for greater energy efficiency. Types of Fire Bricks: silica bricks, magnesite bricks, chrome bricks, fireclay bricks and mullite bricks. Fire bricks are generally yellowish-white in color. They have excellent thermal resistance and great compressive strength. These bricks contain around 25 to 30% alumina and 60 to 70% silica. There are many different shapes and sizes of fire bricks: Standard size - 9x4.5x3, 9x4.5x2, 9x4.5x1, 9x4.5x1.5, and side arch 9x4.5x3/2.75, 9x4.5x3/2.5, 9x4.5x3/2 and end arch 9x4.5x3/2.75, 9x4.5x3/2.5, 9x4.5x3 and a couple of bricks 9x4x4.
