Gap Level Actuator

GAP Level Actuator GLA is a liquid metal flow control device manufactured by GAP Engineering SA in Switzerland for aluminium casting operations. The GAP Level Actuator GLA for aluminium casting is designed to position the plug in the launder or casting spout, allowing precise regulation of molten aluminium flow into the moulds.

The actuator is built with a step motor, position sensor and limit switches. It works with an external electronic control board that controls the step motor and supports automatic management during emergency stop conditions. This makes the GAP Level Actuator GLA for casting spout control suitable for casthouses that need stable, responsive and safer regulation of incoming aluminium flow.

With a movement range of 0–48 mm, the GLA adjusts the plug position to open or close the aluminium flow path in the casting channel. When used with the GAP Level Sensor GLS, the actuator supports optimal regulation of the required metal level in moulds. 

This combination helps aluminium producers improve casting stability, reduce manual intervention and maintain better process consistency during production.
