The busbar, a crucial component in aluminum smelting, can spell disaster if it fails. Even a slightly increasing trend in temperatures can indicate an impending problem. If the busbar fails and the smelter is left without electricity for only a few hours, the cells start to freeze, and if this goes too far, the whole smelter can shut down.
