Yunnan Aluminium bags the Outstanding Contribution Enterprise in the Carbon Neutrality Field

Yunnan Aluminium Corporation was recently honoured with the "Outstanding Contribution Enterprise in the Carbon Neutrality Field" award at the 3rd Boao Conference on Carbon Neutrality. Yunnan Aluminium, as the aluminium industry base of China Aluminium Corporation (Chinalco) in Yunnan, demonstrates the responsibility of central enterprises. It actively practises the national "dual carbon" strategy and implements the strategic deployment of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Government to build a "China Green Aluminium Valley".

Yunnan Aluminium Group consistently adheres to the concept of green development and strives to create a sustainable "aluminium integration" industry model that is green, low-carbon, clean, and sustainable. It has successfully established a green industrial chain integrating bauxite, alumina, carbon products, aluminium smelting, and aluminium processing.

"We attach great importance to carbon footprint certification and have taken the lead in developing and constructing the "LCA Product Lifecycle Assessment System" in the domestic aluminum industry, setting an example in promoting the "dual carbon" goals," added Yunnan Aluminium.

It is the only "national environmentally friendly enterprise" in the non-ferrous metal sector and industrial enterprises in the western provinces of China, as it has successfully established itself as a leading provider of green and low-carbon aluminium materials in the country. Additionally, it is among the pioneering environmentally-friendly factories in the nation and has received the prestigious designation of "National Civilised Unit" for six consecutive terms.

Yunnan Aluminium Corporation has recently researched the technology of connecting photovoltaic power generation to electrolytic aluminium production electricity using direct current (DC) and the critical technologies for flexible DC distribution in the aluminium industry. As a result, they have successfully implemented internal enterprise DC connection to electrolytic cells.

Initiatives are underway to enhance the widespread use of solid waste resources. There are ongoing projects aimed at demonstrating the use of environmental protection technology for the efficient utilisation of aluminium ash, showcasing the comprehensive utilisation of aluminium electrolysis waste tank lining, and constructing a project for the recovery and utilisation of carbon slag and electrolyte production line. These projects are successfully promoting the internal recycling of industrial solid waste.
