LME benchmark aluminium price gains US$1/t on September 27, down 0.27% W-o-W; SHFE aluminium price soars by US$17/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,239.5 per tonne on Wednesday, with its high and low at US$2,246.5 per tonne and US$2,220 per tonne respectively, before, closing at US$2,237.5 per tonne, a decrease of US$3.5 per tonne or 0.16 per cent.

On September 27, the LME aluminium live price chart marked mixed price trends, with the LME aluminium cash bid price and the LME aluminium official price earning US$1 per tonne or 0.04 per cent to officially close at US$2,195 per tonne and US$2,196 per tonne. When we consider the aluminium price on September 20, a Week-on-Week drop of US$6 per tonne or 0.27 per cent can be found as the price was US$2,202 per tonne that day.

London Metal Exchange graph displayed that the 3-month bid price and the 3-month offer price have both slumped by US$12.50 per tonne or 0.56 per cent to stop at US$2,225 per tonne and US$2,226 per tonne.

The December 24 bid price and the December 24 official price have shed US$10 per tonne or 0.42 per cent, settling at US$2,365 per tonne and US$2,370 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock recorded a fall of 1000 tonnes or 0.2 per cent to finally settle at 493,300 tonnes. Live warrants stood at 223,500 tonnes, with a considerable hike of 2,100 tonnes or 0.95 per cent. On the other hand, cancelled warrants negated 3,100 tonnes or 1.13 per cent to clock at 269,800 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price halted at US$2,233.90 per tonne, up US$5.59 per tonne or 0.25 per cent.

SHFE aluminium price

Today, on September 28, the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) aluminium benchmark price has grown by US$17 per tonne or 0.63 per cent to park at US$2,702 per tonne. If the price on September 21 is taken into account, which was US$2,663 per tonne, a Week-on-Week increase of US$39 per tonne or 1.46 per cent can be calculated.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2311 aluminium contract opened at RMB 19,420 per tonne, with its lowest and highest at RMB 19,400 per tonne and RMB 19,500 per tonne before closing at RMB 19,470 per tonne, up RMB 50 per tonne or 0.26 per cent compared with the previous trading day.

SHFE 2307 aluminium added RMB 595 per tonne or 3.38 per cent to RMB 18,185 per tonne. The open interest fell 11,785 lots to 256,640 lots.
