The annual Long Island Regional FIRST Robotics Competition has entered its 18th season. More than 50 teams from Long Island, Brazil and the New York metropolitan area participated in the two day competition. After the kick-off days, and during the six week build period, students work with professional engineering mentors to design a robot. They then participate in regional competitions that choose winners based on the robot’s performance, team work and the determination of the students.
Gershow Recycling has played an important part in encouraging the competition by supplying scrap aluminium to the participants.
