National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) announced on Saturday, 27 May, that the company registered a growth of 25.23 per cent with a net profit of INR 268 crore as against INR 214 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The figure shows an 86 per cent jump over the net profit of INR 144 crore registered in the previous quarter.
{alcircleadd}The company registered a net profit of INR 669 crore, compared to INR 787 crore achieved during the previous year and the gross turnover during 2016-17 has been INR 7,933 crore. The figure revealed that the net profit for the full fiscal year has fallen.
According to the release, the company achieved 7.65 per cent growth in bauxite production by recording 100per cent capacity utilization of 6.825 million tonnes in FY16-17, the highest since inception.

Nalco recorded stellar performance in its refinery segment with a record production of 2.1 million tonne Alumina Hydrate, which represented a jump of 7.53 per cent.
The company’s smelter plant in Angul recorded a 4.03 per cent increase in production of metal at 3.87 lakh tonnes and its captive power plant also witnessed an increase in power generation at 6066 MU, representing an increase of 3.85 per cent YoY.
Nalco witnessed 6.15 per cent growth in chemical sales, 6.32 per cent increase in metal export and 2.52 per cent increase in the domestic sale of metal.
