ICSOBA 2017 exhibition & conference to take place in Hamburg in October with top aluminium representatives

The International Committee for Study of Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium (ICSOBA; www.icsoba.org) unites the aluminium industry professionals and offers forum to promote collaboration and exchange of ideas among its members and results of work from different fields of research and practice related to bauxite exploration & mining, and alumina and aluminium production. Beyond this objective, ICSOBA is striving towards its vision to be The Technology Conference of the Aluminium Companies, for the Aluminium Companies.

At present, ICSOBA is in the process of organizing the 35th International Conference and Exhibition, which will be held in the Radisson Blu hotel in Hamburg in the period of 2 - 5 October 2017. The selection of Hamburg follows ICSOBA’s practice of rotating the venue of International Meetings to countries that play an important role in the global aluminium industry. The most recent years witnessed ICSOBA travel to other parts of the world such as Brazil, Iran, Jamaica, Russia, India, China, UAE and Canada. Consequently, ICSOBA has become global and truly international organization. Although ICSOBA was formed in Europe in 1963 the last conference took place on the old continent in 2004 in Saint Petersburg. Therefore, bringing the conference to Europe this year is like coming back home and to its roots.

Following each ICSOBA conference, a TRAVAUX volume documenting conference proceedings is published. Including the 2016 Quebec, Canada event, 45 volumes of various size and content have been edited and published. All volumes appear as books and, starting from 2005, they are also available in electronic format (CD-ROM) or USB and as searchable pdf files on the ICSOBA website (www.icsoba.org). There is full list of papers of all volumes available on the website, which can be used as a guide for finding specific information or paper.

The host sponsors of this year event are TRIMET Aluminium and DADCO. Submission of abstracts and papers has ended resulting in 106 papers for oral presentation, including 10 keynote speakers. Top delegates from the global aluminium industry representing organizational like Norsk Hydro, Vedanta Aluminium Ltd, TRIMET Aluminium SE, AUDI AG, Wood Mackenzie, School of Metallurgy, Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, International Aluminium Institute and CRU Group are going to present resourceful papers during the event.
