Gulf aluminium industry is gearing up for the 5th edition of Aluminium Middle East, the largest event of its kind in the region, slated on May 15-17, 2017 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC). The exhibition is expected to host more than 200 exhibitors from 30 countries and attract over 3,500 industry visitors from over 90 countries.
The Middle East posted the second highest YOY aluminium demand growth globally during the first quarter of 2016 at +5.8% contributing significantly to the growing global aluminium demand which is estimated to reach 70 million metric tonnes by 2020. The mega event will showcase how the Middle East is shifting to aluminium as one of the major economy drivers in the post-oil world.
{alcircleadd}“Bringing together key frontrunners of the aluminium industry from all over the world, the biennial Aluminium Middle East exhibition is once again expected to become a gateway for companies and professionals to collaborate and tap into the region’s multi-billion-dollar industry,” said Daniyal Qureshi, Group Exhibition Director of Reed Exhibitions Middle East, the official organizers of Aluminium Middle East.
The event aims to highlight the Middle East as a powerhouse player in aluminium production by bringing together both the upstream and downstream sector and focusing on downstream growth. The event will also bring together technology suppliers and equipment suppliers for aluminium production, processing and refinement in order to cover the entire supply chain.
The 2017 show will feature six international pavilions (Germany, Italy, India, China, North America and Egypt) and two new dedicated zones (Occupational Safety and SMEs) in order to highlight how Gulf Cooperation Council is focusing on other allied sectors to diversify their economies from oil sector.
"After successfully establishing itself as a key industry event, and banking on the immense growth potential of the aluminium sector in the Middle East, more exhibitors from the region and the rest of the world are expected to join, giving event participants a wider net to cast,” added Qureshi.

“As one of the biggest gatherings for aluminium professionals and a leading exhibition in the Middle East, we aim to exchange knowledge with key industry players, identify new opportunities in regards to entering new markets, and potentially introduce new products down the line,” said John MacNamara, General Manager, Sales & Marketing, GARMCO, exhibiting at the event.
Dubai is the perfect meeting platform for the global industry, as the Emirate houses the largest aluminium production base in GCC and boasts an extensive industrial and manufacturing base, offering immense business prospects. It is to be noted that aluminium and fabricated metals have been chosen as a business strategy in line with the UAE’s vision for sustainable progress in the post-oil era.
“The UAE is focused on growing the aluminium industry, and for us this is the perfect meeting place for both industry frontrunners and those who are only getting their foot in the door to meet each other, learn the latest developments together, and hopefully, work together. Each year, we witness how these new alliances grow into strong business partnerships,” concluded Nehme Shehab, Show Manager of Aluminium Middle East.
