SMM A00 aluminium ingot price levitates by RMB1080/t M-o-M, down RMB490/t today; Alumina price gains RMB3/t

The Shanghai Metals Market, on April 16, saw a downward trend in aluminium prices, with the SMM A00 aluminium ingot price de-escalating by RMB 490 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,260 per tonne. This can be considered the first dip in a long while, i.e. from April 9, the SMM aluminium price has been on an upward trajectory. It ascended from RMB 20,060 per tonne by RMB 690 per tonne or 3.44 per cent in a matter of seven days to reach RMB 20,750 per tonne on April 15.

However, on a Month-on-Month scale, there can be witnessed an exponential growth of RMB 1,080 per tonne or 5.6 per cent from RMB 19,180 per tonne, as recorded on March 15.

The eight central provinces in China have all experienced dampening aluminium prices, with an exception in Chongqing, where the price soared by RMB 190 per tonne. In Foshan and Wuxi, the aluminium prices have dampened by RMB 480 per tonne, with the official price closing at RMB 20,240 per tonne each. The aluminium price in Linyi has lost RMB 470 per tonne to officiate at RMB 20,310 per tonne. In Gongyi, Shenyang, and Hangzhou, the aluminium prices slumped by RMB 460 per tonne to settle at RMB 20,210 per tonne in the first two and RMB 20,260 per tonne in the last one. Lastly, in Tianjin, the aluminium price has plunged by RMB 390 per tonne to arrive at RMB 20,310 per tonne.

China’s low carbon aluminium price has shed RMB 475 per tonne to a halt at RMB 21,200 per tonne.

China’s high purity aluminium (99.99%) price and high purity aluminium (99.996%) price have both negated RMB 500 per tonne to reach RMB 27,700 per tonne and RMB 28,700 per tonne, respectively.

China’s average alumina price has shifted RMB 3 per tonne upward to anchor at RMB 3,302 per tonne, while the alumina price in Shandong and Shanxi have both inched up RMB 5 per tonne to close at RMB 3,260 per tonne and RMB 3,265 per tonne. The alumina price in Bayuquan has increased by RMB 10 per tonne to park at RMB 3,280 per tonne.

China’s aluminium alloy (A356) price and aluminium alloy (A360) price have dived down by RMB 500 per tonne to close at RMB 20,850 per tonne and RMB 21,150 per tonne, while the aluminium alloy (ADC12) price has lowered by RMB 150 per tonne to officiate at RMB 20,650 per tonne.

China’s aluminium powder price has dropped by RMB 0.50 per kg to arrive at RMB 22.70 per kg, with the average prices ranging between RMB 22.60 per kg and RMB 22.80 per kg.
