On Tuesday, January 8, Sierra Aluminum, announced that it would expand its extrusion, anodizing, and painting capacity by adding a greenfield plant in Mexicali, Mexico, as well as significant investments in its current California operations.
Sierra Aluminum is one of the western United States' largest fully integrated aluminium extruders, serving clients in the building and construction, solar, and recreational vehicle industries.

The new 300,000-square-foot complex in Mexicali, which is three hours from Sierra's existing facilities, is expected to begin later this year. In 2023, the facility is projected to be completed. A new extrusion line will be erected in Sierra's California operations. Sierra will be able to assist the expansion objectives of existing clients across the United States, as well as forge new ones.
"We're very fortunate to have long-standing relationships with many committed customers and have sometimes been challenged to keep pace with their growth due to capacity constraints. With our new, state-of-the-art facility in Mexicali and additional extrusion capacity in California, we'll be able to expand and meet customer demand with a long-term solution," said Victor Toscano, President of Sierra Aluminum.
"Since acquiring Sierra in 2018, we have worked to modernize facilities and enhance our competitive advantage. These new investments will allow us to expand customer relationships and introduce ourselves to new customers in the US and Mexico,” commented Colin Osborne, Samuel's President and CEO.
