
Primary aluminium production in West Europe rebounded in July 2020 by 10,000 tonnes month-on-month or 3.66 per cent to stand at 283,000 tonnes, found the International Aluminium Institute. In June 2020, the output in West Europe was 273,000 tonnes, declining 11,000 tonnes or 3.87 per cent from 284,000 tonnes in May 2020.

On a year-on-year comparison, the production of primary aluminium in July 2020 stood down by 3,000 tonnes or 1.05 per cent from 286,000 tonnes.
The total primary aluminium production in West Europe during May-July 2020 amounted to 840,000 tonnes, down by 2.67 per cent from 863,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
Primary aluminium production in East and Central Europe during July 2020 also edged higher month-on-month from 340,000 tonnes to 349,000 tonnes. This marked a monthly growth of 9,000 tonnes or 2.65 per cent. The output in June was lower than the previous month by 11,000 tonnes or 3.13 per cent from 351,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year basis, primary aluminium production in East & Central Europe during July 2020 fell by 7,000 tonnes or 2 per cent from 356,000 tonnes.
During May-July 2020, the total primary aluminium output in East & Central Europe came in at 1.04 million tonnes, down by 1 per cent from 1.05 million tonnes during the corresponding period of last year.
