Emirates Global Aluminium and the UAE's Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications office will promote the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across the region's industrial sectors. The news came on Wednesday, February 14, after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The agreement has been signed by His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, at the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama expressed his opinion during the signing that digitisation through adopting AI applications is an imperative way to accelerate digital transformation in the UAE's vital industrial sectors and strengthen the Middle Eastern country's position in the competitive market.
While sharing his thoughts, His Excellency applauded the proactive efforts of EGA in implementing Industry 4.0 solutions in its operations, including artificial intelligence. He acknowledged EGA's improved supply chain, enhanced automated quality testing, and world-class safety procedures in factories.
Under the agreement, the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications office and EGA will perform joint research on implementing artificial intelligence in developing new aluminium alloys. In addition, they will upskill EGA staff on AI and promote career opportunities to UAE National students.
EGA first embraced the Industry 4.0 solutions in 2021 to improve operational efficiency and become a path bearer for the region and the global aluminium industry.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: "At EGA, we fully recognise the power of artificial intelligence to transform everything we do, from automating industrial processes to improving employees' experience at work. Many of the opportunities ahead of us are shared with others. Through the Artificial Intelligence Office of the Government, we look forward to delivering our own transformation faster and more effectively while inspiring other companies with what is possible."
