The Associated Group, the parent company for Hind Aluminium started operations in 1973 as an aluminium product manufacturer. The first manufacturing unit, known as Associated Aluminium Industries (P) Ltd. was an aluminium rolling mill which was commissioned at Taloja in the state of Maharashtra, India. The plant started operation in the seventies and developed a loyal customer base in the aluminium market over a decade.
In 1987, the firm expanded their operations further by setting up a plant for the manufacture of aluminium security grills in the union territory of Daman. The unit also ventured into complete aluminium fabrication by setting up aluminium windows and doors in resident and commercial buildings. The brand “Decogrille” turned out to be the most widely used aluminium security grill throughout the country. They also started exporting “Decogrille” brand security grill to neighbouring countries.
In 1996, the group collaborated with M/s Focchi Spa, an Italian company which undertook curtain walling jobs and started a joint venture at Daman. This new business was well- equipped with the technology to design and supply a complete curtain-wall job, which involves designing a complete glass exterior with aluminium profiles for building structures.
As a natural progression to its fabrication business, in 1996, one of the Associated Group companies, Associated Profiles and Aluminium Ltd made its Initial Public Offering in the capital markets. A facility called Hind Aluminium, was set up in Silvassa (in the union territory Dadra & Nagar Haveli) to manufacture various aluminium alloys and electrical grade wire rods.
These products are used by electrical conductor manufacturers for power transmission. That’s how Hind Aluminium ventured into its Aluminium Conductors and Aluminium Wires and Cables business.
