The use of aluminium in vehicle manufacturing is growing in leaps and bounds. As the world is becoming more aware of the harm it has already done to the environment and taking thoughtful steps towards correcting them in bits and pieces, the recyclable ‘green’ metal is finding more place in the Co2 spitting machines plying all over the world. Because of its lightness aluminium is also being used in larger quantities in water vessels these days. Building and Construction is another area that is consuming aluminium more than it ever did in the past, thanks to the growing acceptance of green-building concept.
The last week saw some of the noted names in the transportation sector bringing in new launches in aluminium, while in construction, some new installations using the metal were found stealing the limelight because of their uniqueness. Here are a few such announcements and updates that deserve a second-time relook:
{alcircleadd}Silver Yachts, an Australian luxury yacht builder, unveiled the world’s largest and fastest aluminium motor yacht “Silver Fast” at the Dubai International Boat Show. The Silver Fast provides eco fuel efficiency and is the most advanced vessel, as claimed by the company.
Harley Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, introduced the new Street Rod in its Street range. The motorbike’s front end features rigid 43-mm inverted forks gripped by lightweight aluminium yokes.
Chassix, a global automotive supplier of precision casting and machining solutions, said that they are planning to start a greenfield plant in Ostrava, Czech Republic, for casting aluminium chassis and powertrain components for passenger cars.
Stabicraft, the world's best designed aluminium chambered boats for business and leisure, introduced a new 1600 Fisher Carbon Hull that features the proven Arrow pontoons using 3- and 4mm marine grade aluminium construction.
The Aluminum Association in a press statement said that the association would look forward to work with President Trump and his administration on the review of light-duty vehicle fuel economy and emissions regulations for model years 2022-2025.

Aluminium in Construction:
FIT AG, an additive manufacturing solutions provider or a 3D printing company, announced a strategic partnership with global construction company Caterpillar Inc, headquartered in Illinois, to make 3D print aluminium and titanium parts for the latter’s large-scale machinery.
Ejetco International announced that its research centre facility at the aluminium plant in Egypt has manufactured a new aluminium part for the glass façade by the name of Ejetco. The company plans to expand in the Egyptian market through the purchase of lands in Madinaty, New Cairo, and 6th of October City. The company also intends to install a new aluminium plant in 10th of Ramadan City.
The Window Outlet, one of the UK’s largest aluminium window and door suppliers to the trade in Bristol, announced that they have now invested in two state-of-the-art mitre saws and controllers from elumatec, the world leader in aluminium profile machining.
The Winning design team updated that they are set to construct the City of Dreams Pavilion from recycled aluminium cans for an annual arts festival on Governors Island in New York City for the 2017 summer season. The pavilion will be constructed using 300,000 aluminium cans. The City of Dreams Pavilion aims to “promote sustainability-oriented thinking amidst the architecture and design communities.”
