When it comes to sustainability, the aluminum can delivers unrivalled benefits driving its growing use in the developing countries. Germany is the major aluminium market in Europe and it contributes 25% of total aluminium consumption in Europe. The aluminium rolling mills account for the largest share of aluminium semis production and the largest customers for rolled aluminium semis are the automotive and the packaging industries.
We are analysing Germany’s aluminium can export data for the last three years to understand the domestic production and trading trends of this most popular aluminium product.
According to the recent estimate, in 2015, Germany exported 1,08,760 tons of aluminium cans globally. The total revenue from can export amounts to about US$ 640 million. Compared to 2015, in 2016, Germany is estimated to export an estimated 89,554 million tons of aluminium can globally. The total revenue from the export amounts to US$ 512 million for the estimated amount.
Considering the trend in last two years the aluminium can export by the Germany is estimated to reach 90,284 million tons in 2017 and the revenue from export is estimated to be about USD 437 million.

The data shows a slight downward trend for aluminium can export in Germany indicating an increased domestic consumption. The largest part of aluminium can is exported to Switzerland, Netherland and France. Poland and Austria also import a considerable amount of aluminium cans from Germany.
