Outlook 2017: A sneak peek into a few swanky aluminium bodied smartphones

Aluminium has already forayed into the world of smartphones as a preferred chassis material. The year 2016 saw some of the biggest brands in the mobile phone market using aluminium alloy in their construction.

The year 2017 is going to offer different designs of smartphone crafted out of aluminium. Starting with Apple iPhone, many brands such as Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, LG and Asus have already  used aluminium in their devices. They are using aluminium in their smartphones as aluminium is malleable and can be bent as per requirement. The processor of an aluminium phone can be faster than that of a plastic phone.

Several smartphones made of aluminium have been launched for 2017 model year and some are waiting for their debut. Aluminium based smartphone is likely to evolve further in 2017.Let’s check out these smartphone of 2017.

HUAWEI

Honor 6X: Huawei has launched its new Honor 6X smartphone in Las Vegas at CES 2017.The phone has an all-metal body made from high-strength aluminium alloy which has been anodised twice to give it scratch resistance. The new smartphone is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor along with Dual camera and finger print scanner. Honor 6X offers 5.5-inch display and runs Android 6.0 with the latest version of Emotion UI 4.1.The case is made of aluminium and feels well-built and very solid. The smartphone is available for £224.99.

Mate 9: Huawei has also unveiled its Mate 9 smartphone featuring an all-aluminium unibody chassis at the CES 2017 press event in Las Vegas, US. Huawei’s Mate 9 is the world’s first smartphone that comes with Amazon’s Alexa AI Assistant. The device housed inside an all-aluminium unibody chassis comprises a 12- megapixel camera and an 8 megapixel front facing camera with auto focus and dual-LED flash. Huawei Mate 9 is available in the US from January 6 2017. The pricing of the phone starts at $599 on Amazon.com

HMD GLOBAL

HMD Global, Finnish company that secured Nokia branding rights in late 2016, has announced its first android smartphone Nokia 6 with aluminium body for China market. Nokia 6 gets 5.5-inch full HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass coating and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. HMD’s first android phone features Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The device has Dolby Atmos sound with stereo speakers. HMD is planning to launch six phones under Nokia name this year .Nokia 6 will go on sale for china market on China's JD.com, at a price of CNY 1699.

SAMSUNG

Galaxy C7 Pro:  Galaxy C7 Pro is one of the most awaited smartphone from Samsung’s C series. A bunch of leaked images of the phone has made its way on the internet via NextPowerup. The phone appears to be encased in an iPhone like aluminium unibody. The phone sports a mammoth 5.7-inch Full HD display in style. The upgrade of the China-exclusive Galaxy C7 packs a Snapdragon 626 chipset with 4GB of RAM supported by 64GB of internal expandable storage and a tough 3,300mAh battery. It is reported that Samsung is currently putting the final touches on the Galaxy C7 Pro's software and the device would hit the store shelves by the end of January.


A7:  Samsung has unveiled three smartphones under the A-series- The A3 (2017), A5 (2017) and the top-of-the-line A7 (2017). The A7 (2017) is expected to feature a ginormous 5.7-inch Super AMOLED full-HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The new smartphone has an aluminium unibody design with 16-megapixel rear camera. The device is powered by Samsung's octa-core Exynos 7880 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The A7 will start r rolling out in January.

ASUS

Asus has announced the ZenFone 3 Zoom at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. The device comes with 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone claimed to be lightest and thinnest as its body is made of aluminium.  The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor. The ZenFone 3 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. ZenFone 3 Zoom will be available in the market in February 2017, the price of the smartphone is yet to announce.

TCL-BLACKBERRY MERCURY

TCL, which is now manufacturing BlackBerry smartphones, has announced its BlackBerry Mercury’s first look at CES 2017. BlackBerry Mercury smartphone comes with QWERTY keyboard and the company will launch officially at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. BlackBerry Mercury is likely to feature a 4.5-inch display and be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The smartphone gets an aluminium casing on the sides with black antenna bands.


LG G6

LG has released its LG G6 smartphone teaser ahead of MWC 2017 launch. LG G6 will feature a QHD+ 5.7-inch pane with an aluminium display. The device is powered by Snapdragon 835, OLED display, 4GB of RAM.


LENOVO

Lenovo unveils its P2 smartphone for the 2017 model. The Lenovo P2 gets an all-metal body; the aluminium material around it feels sturdy. The smartphone sports a "Made in India" tag. The phone has 5.5-inch full-HD Super Amoled display and powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. The P2 gets 13-megapixel rear camera, runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Lenovo P2 is available from January 11 on Flipkart and at a starting price of INR 16,999.

Going beyond the strength and durability factor, aluminium bodied smartphones look premium and add to your style statement.
