Southwire Company, LLC, North America’s leading manufacturer of wire and cable used in the distribution and transmission of electricity, has introduced a new multi-strand aluminium cable that would be used for down-tower wind turbine applications. The USP’s of the new product are easy installation, cheaper cost, safety and oil resistance capabilities.

The company’s new aluminium cable has three layers that comprises 8000 Series Aluminum conductor per ASTM B800, Class C Compact strand per ASTM B801 or Single Input Wire stranding per ASTM B836, Mylar binder tape and two-layer composite wall insulation including an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) inner layer and a CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene) outer layer.
