Locker Group’s Boston 743A, a square woven mesh in aluminium, was utilized in constructing a canopy structure during the renovation of a building located on Lonsdale Street in Melbourne.
The company is the manufacturer and supplier of expanded and perforated metal, wire mesh and curtains used in facades, balustrades, screening and interior applications to the architectural and construction industries throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
The company worked with SJB Architects, designer of canopy structure, in order to add physicality to the design at the concept stage. As the project progressed, it became clear that a singular aperture design would create a more consistent visual aesthetic.
Aluminium construction provides structural integrity that gives the ideal solution without compromising the design requirement.
A square woven mesh in aluminium gets a gold anodised finish from AAF giving the mess a brass appearance without any of the weight issues associated with real brass. It simplifies handling and installation issues which was not their initially. The original design comprised a mixed arrangement of small and large aperture woven panels manufactured in brass.Get fresh Aluminium data and insights
