Laminazione realizes future concepts with Achenbach OPTIFOIL technology

Laminazione Sottile, a major producer of aluminum, located in Caserta, Italy, has just placed an order for a new OPTIFOIL® HeavySlit foil slitting machine, type HGS 18/08 with Achenbach Buschhütten.

The objective of this investment is to expand production in the field of finstock products and flexible water pipes. In order to guarantee the known to be first-class quality of Laminazione Sottile’s products the decision was made in favor of Achenbach OPTIFOIL® technology and in particular relating to the innovative single contact roller technology which grant both, the reduction of scrap (loose side slits) and a better winding quality of narrow finished rolls.

The new foil slitting machine will slit aluminum strip of different alloys, strip widths of up to 1,700 mm and strip thicknesses between 50 and 450 µm into narrowest finished rolls. They will not only be used as primary material for starting material for heat exchangers (finstock) but also in the production of flexible, multilayer alu-pex water pipes and for automotive products such as heat shields or internal architectural mouldings. The Achenbach patented single contact roller system at the winder, a perfect removal handling system integrated into the logistics and if desired customized slitting technology rank among the outstanding features of this state-of-the-art slitter. They are the ones making first-class slitting results possible in the interplay with high quality of all single components of Achenbach machinery and its machine’s overall concept.

With this order the decade-long, trustful cooperation between the two family-owned companies in the field of rolling mill and air purification technology is confirmed once again and simultaneously extended to the field of foil slitting machinery.
