The aluminium wire rods market in Europe is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 1.4 per cent during the years 2017-2021, the report noted. Analysts projected that aluminium wire will replace 30 per cent to 40 per cent of copper wire in the coming years. Aluminium wire producers are investing in R&D and optimized supply chain network to stay competitive in the market.

The two sectors combined accounted for close to 73 per cent of the market share in 2016. Italy is estimated to witness an increase in import of aluminium wires due to rising demand for such product.
According to the estimates, Italy imported 15230 tonnes of aluminium wire in in Q1 2016-17 as compared to 13861 tonnes in the Q1 2017-18. The import volume declined to 1369 tonnes in Q1 2017-18. The import volume stood at about 11670 tonnes in Q2 2016-17. The country is expected to import of about 14127 tonnes of aluminium wire in Q2 2017-18.
The total aluminium wire imports were valued at US$ 34.90 million in Q1 2016-17, which declined to reach US$ 32.14 million in Q1 2017-18. The value of import reached US$ 27 million in Q2 2016-17. The country is estimated to register an increase in import in Q2 2017-18 as compared to Q2 2016-17. The value of import is estimated to stand at US$ 32.13 million.

Italy imported 11261 tonnes of aluminium wire from France in 2016. The country imported 5063 tonnes and 4921 tonnes of aluminium wire from Turkey and Egypt respectively.
