According to the latest Aluminum Association report, estimated net shipments of aluminium sheet and plate by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 752.3 million pounds during May 2017, up 7.1% YoY. On a month on month comparison, shipments rose 7.6% over April 2017. YTD shipments through May 2017 totaled 3,585.0 million pounds, up 2.7 over the 2016 YTD total of 3,491.8 million pounds.
{alcircleadd}The report further says shipments of can stock by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 349.0 million pounds during May 2017, down 1.1% YoY. On a month on month comparison, shipments increased 8.8% over the April 2017 total of 320.9 million pounds. YTD shipments through May 2017 totalled 1,703.4 million pounds, down 2.1% from the 2016 YTD total. Compared to May 2016, producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets rose 1.2% t to 301.1 million pounds, while exports dropped 13.1% to 47.9 million pounds.

Shipments of aluminium foil by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 84.6 million pounds during May 2017, up 3.0% over the May 2016 total of 82.1 million pounds. On a month on month comparison, shipments rose 5.8% over the April 2017 total of 80.0 million pounds. YTD shipments through May 2017 stood at 397.8 million pounds, down 3.4% from the YTD total of 2016.
