The Aluminium Association’s “Index of Net New Orders of Aluminum Mill Products” for February dropped 6.1 % MoM. Orders for flat roll products dropped 5.8 %, while orders for extruded products declined 7.7 % and orders for redraw rod were off 4.9 %. YoY, the orders record a slight drop. On average, orders by domestic producers for the first two months of 2017 were up 3.0 % YOY.
{alcircleadd}Imports of aluminium ingot, scrap and mill products into the U.S. and Canada stood at 861 million pounds in January 2017, up 49.1 % over the January 2016 total of 577 million pounds. Exports including scrap totalled 495 million pounds, up 9.0 % over a year ago and excluding scrap, exports stood at 252 million pounds, up 5.0 % YoY.

Scrap export increased 13.5 % Yoy. Total imports in 2016 were up 33.6 % to 7,956 million pounds over 2015, while exports were down 3.4 % to 6,105 million pounds.
