The eleventh edition of Metef just ended in Verona; a great interest among the exibitors and visitors was clearly visible, business linked to the aluminium and foundry worlds was brisk and the dominant theme recorded was that of a more international character. There was a 25% increase in the number of foreign participators and visitors in comparison with previous editions.
{alcircleadd}A key role was played by commercial delegations coming from countries with solid industrial traditions, such as, the United States, Germany, Austria, Russia, and by markets where technical and production capacity is developing fast, such as India, Iran, Iraq, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico. The presence of great primary metal producer should be underlined: Europe with HYDRO, the Gulf, present with EGA and with the top management of the Gulf Aluminium Council, Russia with RUSAL, India with VEDANTA and Iran.
Metef 2017 covered the entire processing segment of the metal industry – aluminium and innovative metals, casting foundry, die casting, extrusion, rolling – by enhancing trends particularly favourable for development, especially in very dynamic transversal macro-areas, such as automotive and digitization. Innovation was the leading theme of the show which has been a witness to the excellence of the aluminium world and of the downstream manufacturing industry for twenty years. Companies which won the Metef Innovation Prize this year are the essential part of an industry, companies that have been able to change its strategy in just a few years and return to the top of global rankings.

Over 400 great quality exhibitors and a tightly packed framework of side events rich in contents have made the event worth remembering, for their international relevance. The panel on the future of aluminium by Assomet-Centroal and AFFG, the Opening Conference by the FARO Club regarding the automotive industry, the Aluminium 2000-Iceb Congress , the Italy-India Forum on trade between the two countries, the NADCA Convention on die casting are a few concurrent events that contributed to Metef’s success. Events like Metef turn out to be particularly useful to encourage development in the manufacturing segment as well as the economic sector of the participating countries.
