Top five aluminium extrusion companies in the Middle East

Another region in Asia that is growing substantially in primary aluminium production recent times is the Middle East and specifically the countries under Gulf Corporation Council. Middle East producers are mostly focusing on primary aluminium production and they are the net exporters of aluminium globally. The last reported primary aluminium production in GCC stands at 5.2 million tonnes in 2015, accounting for around 10 per cent of total global output of 58 million tonnes. The maximum investment in the downstream application is in the extrusion sector as the building and construction sector has seen exponential growth in the last two decades. The aluminium extrusion products cover extruded profiles, aluminium composite panels, fire-rated (FR) aluminium composite materials and many other products. We have tried to list the top five aluminium extrusion companies from the Middle East based on their capacity, product range and market reach. There are many other companies who are operating successfully in the Middle East region and supplying to some of the biggest projects within the region and outside.

1.       Aluminium Products Company (ALUPCO)

Established in 1975, Aluminium Products Company (ALUPCO) is the largest extrusion company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA Region). The total extrusion capacity is in excess of 85,000 tonnes per year with plans to expand to over 100,000 tonnes per year. ALUPCO operates sales offices in Saudi Arabia; Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh, UAE (Dubai) & Egypt (Cairo) to supply to their consumers in ME, GCC, North Africa and Europe.

2.       Gulf Extrusion Co. (LLC)

Gulf Extrusions Co. (LLC) is the flagship company of dynamic multi-industry conglomerate - Member of Metals Industries- Al Ghurair Group. Located in Jebel Ali, Dubai, Gulf Extrusions or GULFEX is one of the largest Aluminium extrusion plants in the Middle East with an annual production capacity of more than 60,000 tonnes. The company supplies not only to GCC countries and the Middle East but also to Indian Sub-Continent, South East Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and Canada.

3.       Taweelah Aluminium Extrusion Company LLC (TALEX)

Taweelah Aluminium Extrusion Company LLC (TALEX) is the Middle East’s most advanced aluminium extrusion plant located in Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Industrial Zone (KIZAD).TALEX is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s SENAAT and Gulf Extrusions with a production capacity of 50,000 tonnes for aluminium profiles.

4.       National Aluminium Products Company (NAPCO)

National Aluminium Products Company (NAPCO) was established in 1984 and is one of the leading extruders of aluminium profiles in the GCC market. Located in the Sultanate of Oman, the manufacturing plant has a production capacity is 42,000 tonnes, with four state of the art extrusion presses from Europe.

5.       Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (BALEXCO)

Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (Balexco) continues to remain a leading name in manufacturing of aluminium extrusions since 1977 when they came into commercial production. Currently the production capacity has crossed a record 33,000 tonnes annually.

Emirates Extrusion Factory LLC, established in 1993 in Ajman, UAE is one of the most dynamic and innovative aluminium extrusion companies in the Middle East. They also produce a wide variety of aluminium extrusions and profiles to cater to special applications.   Emirates extrusion operates two presses of 1,650 tons each with 7 inches billets. The rated production capacity is 13,800 tonnes per year.

Recently there have been aggressive initiatives from the governments of each country in the Middle East towards the development of a successful downstream sector. Such initiatives include the development of industrial parks that invite domestic and international investments on the aluminium sector with substantial returns. This will open up more opportunities for product manufacturers to grow their businesses.
