Metro Mining Ltd said that they have received environmental approvals from the State Government for its Bauxite Hills Project. The final approvals from the Federal Government are expected in the near future, it said.
{alcircleadd}The company has received the Environmental Authority (EA) for the Bauxite Hills Project from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP. “The State Government approval follows an extensive and detailed environmental assessment and community consultation process,” it said.
Managing Director Simon Finnis said: “We have significantly reduced the social and environmental impacts, and optimised the economic returns by combining two projects. Mine development is underway and we are on schedule to begin mining construction in Q3 2017 and first shipment in Q2 next year.”

The company has an initial four-year, 7 million tonne Binding Off-take Agreement with Xinfa Group - one of the largest integrated aluminium companies in China. The company has also secured an Offtake Letter-of-Intent with Lubei Chemicals - China’s fifth largest bauxite importer.
