However, the country also imports a major chunk of bauxite from global market to meet its domestic requirement. It has number of bauxite mines which include Lissakovsk bauxite mine, Turgay and Arkalyk bauxite mines.
{alcircleadd}As shown in the data, Kazakhstan imported 60 tonnes of bauxite in 2015. In 2016, the total bauxite import in the country was estimated at 52 tonnes. The country is estimated to import 2054 tonnes of bauxite in 2017. Kazakhstan is projected to register a jump in the import of bauxite.
The cost of bauxite imports in Kazakhstan is also estimated to increase significantly in 2017. In 2015, the country’s total import value stood at USD 0.036 million. Kazakhstan’s bauxite import value stood at USD 0.018 million in 2016. The total import of bauxite is estimated to be valued at USD 0.1 million in 2017.

According to the recent estimate, the country purchased its entire bauxite requirement (in excess of the domestic production) from China in 2015. In 2016, Slovenia was the main supplying country of bauxite to Kazakhstan. The country is expected to import bauxite from Russian Federation in 2017.
