Chalco plans big investment in Guinea bauxite project
The mines minister of Guinea revealed that China’s Aluminium Corp of China (Chalco) has formed an intention to invest $500 million for production of bauxite in Guinea from 2018. The company will exploit the reserves of bauxite abandoned by BHP Billiton.
Bauxite supply shortage affects alumina refinery operations in China’s Shanxi province
Shortage in bauxite supply has reportedly affected production at two alumina refineries in Shanxi. Xing’an Chemical Co. China Power Investment Corporation Shanxi Aluminum Co. also shuttered down two of their alumina production lines, affecting one million tonnes per annum of capacity.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to halt bauxite exports
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will examine the ports to restrict the export of bauxite in the country. MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki said the halt would be difficult but necessary.
MACC seized 10 million tonnes of bauxite stockpile worth RM1.28 billion. The areas where bauxite stockpiles were seized are located in Felda Bukit Goh and Kuantan Port.
Gujarat government to auction nine limestone & bauxite mines
Gujarat government has made a decision to auction nine limestone and bauxite mines in the next 6-9 months. This was conveyed by a mining official from the state of Gujarat. The bauxite mines that will be lined up for e-auction is in Dev Bhoomi Dwarka district
