New Day Aluminum Limited of Jamaica has appointed Delroy Dell as the new vice President and General Manager for its bauxite operations in St. Ann. Dell, a former Operations Director with Noranda Bauxite, will manage the mining and shipping operations of New Day (Jamaica) Aluminum. He will also be overseeing the administrative division of the mineral development company.
According to a release from New Day, Dell has been in charge of Noranda Bauxite's operations since 2009. Prior to that, he managed the integrated bauxite and alumina operations for Alcan Ewarton from 1989 till 2009.
In New Day, Dell is succeeding Antoine Liddell, who has been promoted to the chair of Senior Vice President of Strategy and Special Projects. As the new SVP, Liddell will be responsible for overseeing operations and projects at Gramercy alumina plant in Louisiana, United States and the bauxite plant in Discovery Bay.

New Day Aluminum won the auction for Noranda's upstream Louisiana, Jamaica assets in October last year. In winning the assets, New Day edged out ARG International AG, which recently bought Noranda's idled, 263,000 tonnes per annum New Madrid primary aluminium smelter in south-eastern Missouri.
