The 13th International Mining & Machinery Exhibition will be held at Eco Park, Kolkata in India during November 16-19, 2016. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and supported by Coal India Limited, Ministry of Coal, Ministry of Mines, and Ministry of Steel, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) certified event will play host to a number of premiere mining and machinery companies from around the globe.
IMME 2016 will see more than 400 exhibitors displaying their mining and machining solutions for various ferrous and non-ferrous mineral industries including bauxite mining in a 100,000 sq.m. display area. There will be separate country pavilions from Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Poland, Russia, and the UK. The 4-day international exhibition will also include a 2-day Global Mining Summit where industry experts representing various companies will present their papers. Around 10,000 plus visitors are expected to turn up for the event making it one-of-a-kind business and networking platform for the global mining industry players.
The visitor profile is likely to encompass stakeholders from different segments of the industry and associated domains including Mine developer cum Operator (MDO's) / Mine Owners, Mineral Processing plants, Foundries, Mine Chief's, Procurement / Purchase / Supply Managers, Construction houses / Contractors / builders, Cement manufacturers, Steel / Aluminium Industry players, Financial Institutions / Consultants, Safety Institutes / Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Managers, Trading & Marketing / Distribution & Representatives / Agents, Distributors & Transporters, and Geological Institutes / Engineering colleges.
The Indian mining sector plays a pivotal role in the country's infrastructure and economy. Globally, India ranks 3rd in Coal & Lignite and Bauxite mining industry. In 2015, the country was estimated to have spent $14 billion on coal imports; the figure is likely to rise to $25 billion by 2016-17. The future of the mining sector lies in laying emphasis on scientific mining so that state of the art technology is used for exploration, efficiencies are realized, clean technologies and safe mining practices are adopted with adequate supporting infrastructure. IMME 2016 aims to uphold India's potential as a mining and machinery expertise hub in the global arena.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr Peeyush Kumar, Director, Ministry of coal, Government of India, said, "An informative exhibition, display of HEMM (Heavy Earthmoving & Mining Equipment) and technological development will definitely help the mining sections."
"The new Government's primary focus is on bringing back the momentum in mining. This is in sync with the theme of the Global Mining Summit 2014 at IMME 2014," said Dr Anup Kumar Pujari, Secretary to Ministry of Mines.
