Rusal operated Friguia alumina refinery in Guinea is readying to come online in first half of 2018. The reconstruction work at the site is progressing as planned, informed Rusal’s Guinea branch general manager Pavel Vassiliev.
{alcircleadd}According to the latest update, reconstruction work at the alumina refinery in Guinea is about 35 per cent complete and is expected to be over by April 2018.
On completion, the refinery will start operations with an annual alumina production capacity of 650000 tonnes.

The Russian aluminium giant and the government of West Africa’s Republic of Guinea came to an agreement regarding the resumption of alumina refining operations at the Friguia bauxite and alumina complex in April last year.
The two parties also signed an annex to the Dian-Dian concession agreement regarding development of a bauxite mine of the same name.
The nameplate capacity of Alumina Company of Guinea’s Friguia bauxite and alumina complex is 2.1 million tonnes of bauxite and 650,000 tonnes of alumina. Production was suspended at the plant in April 12.
