Alteo is the leading producer of non-metallurgical alumina in France. The company has three alumina refineries in France: the alumina refinery in Gardanne, a white fused alumina facility in La Bâthie and a brown fused alumina plant in Beyrède.

{alcircleadd}Alteo Gardanne is one of the world leaders in specialty alumina production and offers a wide range of products. It is formed after divestment of the specialty aluminas group by Rio Tinto. The plant is one of the world’s largest producer of specialty alumina with production capacity of 635kT per year.
As the data shows, France exported 280959 tons of alumina in 2015. In 2016, the volume of alumina export stood at 225113 tons, a decrease of 55846 tons from the previous year. The country is estimated to export 224286 tons of alumina in 2017. The figure shows that the country is witnessing a fall in the export of alumina.
Revenue from alumina export has also declined over the last three-year period. The value of export of alumina stood at USD 236.92 million in 2015. In 2016, the country exported total revenue of USD 201.74 million. The revenue is forecasted to be about USD 186.08 million in 2017.

In 2016, France exported a substantial amount of alumina to Taiwan (21220 tons) , USA (16083 tons) and China(10215 tons).
